Sometimes the premise arrives wearing a wig. Billing Jean leans all the way into costume and courtroom, and trusts you to follow the bit somewhere slightly ridiculous.
What keeps it upright is the same restraint that runs through everything: the bigger the setup, the smaller the playing. The character commits completely and reacts barely at all, and the gap between the two is where the laugh lives.
It is one of the most replayed skits on the channel. The costume gets you in. The timing keeps you there.
